First sailing cargo ship equipped with SolidSail rigging
The SolidSail technology developed by Chantiers de l’Atlantique will be installed on the first sail-powered cargo ship to be built by shipowner Neoline.
This 136-meter-long cargo ship will use SolidSail rigging as its main propulsion system. The two 76-meter masts and 3,000 m2 sails will be built by our teams and delivered to the shipowner.
The use of our SolidSail technology on this first veel freighter makes a significant contribution to the energy transition in maritime transport. This is the first major milestone in the evolution of this activity, and may well herald a wider use of our SolidSail rigs beyond the cruise sector.
